i wont have to worry about the chevy motor not mating to the olds spine on the transmission?

The trans does not mate the splines to the engine. The torque converter mates to the splines, drives the pump and bolts to the flexplate that bolts to the output flange of the engine's crankshaft. If you don't understand this, read more about how a car is put together before you undertake this because you are significantly lacking in the knowledge necessary to play with these systems.

haha amusing 😀DD

id like to see these splines on the engine that he is talking about

lol 😀DD

im just joking of course

haha

The olds transmission has a different bolt pattern than the chevy engine. That is unless you have the multi fit 200r4. I ran into this problem with my mom's hurst olds. I tried putting a 200r4 in that car and the bolt pattern is different than a chevy.

except for the cadillac version of the 200r4 which i've HEARD has a different bolt pattern, all 200r4's are universal/dual pattern and will mate to any gm small block. make sure that it's a r4 not a c or plain old 200.

while i agree that everyone should learn as much as possible before working on their car, i don't think that we need to sh*t all over someone for a mistake.

Actually, my stating that specifically the aluminum 4.1 liter Caddy V8 TH200 4R trans will not bolt to anything else comes form the Hollander interchange listings which are usually right about this sort of thing. I also examined them myself and they looked a little different. However, this engine was used only for a few years in RWD applications before they went to the Olds 307 for the big Caddies and then the Chevy 350 on the newest D bodies before they were discontinued. The Hollander has been wrong before, but it generally is accurate.

i wasn't doubting the your post but have you ever heard the saying "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear."? if i don't know the source then i let people know that i'm not 100% positive.
