Does anyone know the trick to taking out the lock cylinder from a trunk lid? The clip that hold it in appears to be riveted in place so I am assuming(dangerous) that you "unscrew" the actual lock? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

it's not rivet, it could be filed with dirt but it's a philips head screw To remove the lock that plate needs to be removed

have you seen the C clips that hold the door locks in place?. That is the same clip but longer and attached to that plate for the trunk lock

Yeah, that is why it was throwing me off, I thought I would be able to go out there and slide the c clip out. Thanks again for your help.

Mine was riveted from the factory and I just drilled off the top so it wouldn't make the hole bigger and used a punch to knock the rest out, when I reinstalled it I just riveted it back in.

That makes sense, a rivet is cheaper and quicker. Mine must have been "upgraded" by someone. Both my GP's had screws.
