turn signal question

Have a 85 Monte Carlo ss and when I use my left or right turn signal both sides will flash any idea what's wrong ready to try anything at this point

I think the problem is the turn signal switch.....

Yes.. and when I turn the headlights on the turn signals want do nothing at all

There are two flashers in the cars if I am not mistaken, one for the hazards and one the signals. Try swapping them and see if that corrects the issue. No cost troubleshooting. Both flashers use the same part.

I would remove one signal bulb at a time to see if that light or socket is causing a problem. Your headlights have nothing to do with the turn signals bulbs but the parking lights do. And check your grounds, these cars have terrible grounds that cause many problems
