Would there be differences in U joint sizes depending on the rear end you have? I bought U joints for my '79 Lemans that came originally with a 267V8 and stock rear end. I had swapped out my rear for a 3.73 out of a MCSS and the U joint mating to the rear end is real sloppy. Will slide side to side when the caps are tight. Am I missing something? Only thing I can figure is to match the rear U joint to the rear end, the front one seems fine. I figured they'd all be the same for G bodies.

There should be C-clips that go in grooves on the U-joint caps, towards the inside of the joke ears. These locate the U-joint, then the retainer clamps bolt down onto the yoke to hold everything tight. See if that description matches what you find on your car.

I use these on the A body rear I have but I don't think you can get them for the G body rear
