It's another one of those guys with something as rare as hens teeth. Maybe I'll start posting some of my hard to find '81 parts I got for my car.
The title was cut & pasted from his listing.

hilarious! maybe it was worth $1500 back then, ain't worth diddly/squat now!

I have the rest of the console made of unobtainium so together with that breadbox should make it the "Super rarest on earth".

I doubt anyone will ever find another NOS breadbox in the world as GM sold the molds and destroyed remaining inventory years ago.

One thing he DOESN'T seem to know anything about is that GM didn't actually make very many parts in-house, in that era anyway. Can never say never, but that's usually the case. They were farmed out to vendor companies that sometimes put their name on GM parts and sometimes not. And GM didn't go around like Terminators hunting down and destroying remaining inventories. You hear so many bullcrap stories about that sort of stuff. Or that they "saved" inventory to make special cars and used up H/O and 442 parts inventories on 1988 Cutlass variations. Uh, no.

I guess this goes with his Sears typewriter he has in another auction that is :SUPER DUPER" nice. I guess at one time he was offered mega bucks from Stephen King or something, but he was in novel writing mode and didn't sell. But now you can own that nice manual typewriter for $89.95...

It's fine to say rare, hard to find, etc., when something actually is, but methinks this time it went overboard trying to justify the asking price. It's his part, his terms, but I think for that, he'll be keeping that part for a good while. I'm glad the Cutlass has an extended console to not need a $1500 breadbox.

Huh. Within 10 years collectors will be paying for this malaise-era bullshit.

There goes the neighbourhood.
