I'm really interested in getting a spring/shock kit but I know nothing about Viking Performance. Are they new?
Hi Brian.
Thanks for the interest.
Viking is relatively new but the major players aren't. The prez and vice prez were in extremely upper management at QA1 and the engineering manager was a top dude at AutoMeter (the gauge company). They started Viking about a year ago.
A few things we liked about Viking - they make their springs in USA. It's kind of transparent sometimes but lots of stuff is made overseas and you don't know it. The USA thing is cool because, like UMI, both they and we can control quality. No overseas communication if there is a problem. I can walk out to the shop to correct it (at UMI of course). We've put a ton of miles on our LeMans and the fender lip height remains the same even after a bunch of what is probably highly illegal driving...
The next is double adjustability at near the cost of single adjustability from some other brands. By focusing on double adjustability only, Viking can hold less inventory and pass that savings onto us and you. It's nice to drop the rebound and go launching while still maintaining the correct compression settings. As you add engine and wheelie height you can simply crank up the "C" knob and be good to go.
Their quality of fit and finish is pretty sweet as well. The stuff just looks nice and well built.
Keep in mind if you already have the car at ride height on standard springs, we can still do Viking rears. It's nice to roll under the car, and with no tools, click the adjusters enough to throw three friends and gear in the car and head on a road trip to the local auto-x.
I can provide dyno curves and explain the damping vs other brands and styles as well.
Spring rates are available for drag only, drag/light street, street cruise and corner carving as well as big block and small block applications.
Let me know what you need.
