What are your guys thoughts on the UMI suspension pieces? I was thinking about doing the suspension in my 442 over the winter and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on their products. My plans include their upper and lower control arms for the front, upper and lower control arms for the back, and their sway bars front and rear. All this along with new steering components for the front. Any ideas on what brand to go with for these parts? I see G-Body parts has a rebuild kit for the front steering. Also I would like to install new springs all the way around to maybe lower the car about an inch or so, any insight as to what springs to get?

Thanks for your input guys!
Dave

I just did about what you are wanting to do on my 87 El camino I used UMI front lowers and their front 1 1/4 sway bar , I put stock rebuilt uppers on the front with urethane bushings and new ball joints , I bought all new steering linkage (Moog ) from Northern Auto Parts cheaper by far than any I had found . For springs I put 5660 Moog up front with 1/2 a coil cut off and that put it right at a inch below stock and on the rear I put a set of 5413 springs ( they are double pigtail like the G bodys and are for a 69 Chevelle ) , Jegs rear non adjustable Uppers ( gives more room than stock for larger exhaust I wanted to put on it ( 3 inch with a Grand National bend on the Tail pipes) and I had picked up some stock rear lowers that had been powder coated & rebuilt along with a stock sway bar that was powder coated also . My fender heights at center of wheel wells are :
Front with 225 70 15 tires is 25 3/4
Rear with 275 60 15 tires and no air in my coil spring bags is 26 3/8
I forgot to mention I put Air lift bags in the rear coil springs in case I need the extra height for a load and if you use them I would suggest you run separate lines to the bags ( if I put about 10-15 psi in the bags it brings the rear height to about 27 inches.
Just a fyi in case you didn't know or maybe it will help somebody else who reads this post :
When you do your uppers make sure to keep the shims separated so you can put them back where the came from so you can drive it to get it aligned and also take your steering linkage apart as a whole and measure your new one off of it and that will get it close enough to drive to get it aligned also when you get it aligned ask them to set it to desired specs not just within specs.

Also forgot to mention in my long winded post that UMI may run a sale soon you can call or email and ask I saved 10% for a labor day sale and they are fast to reply to emails and very good to deal with and fast shipping .

Thanks for your insight! I think I will try contacting UMI to see if they will be running a sale anytime soon. Their products seem to be a pretty good bang for the buck.
