That's the same motor that was in my 442 post 307, and pre 455. I got it for free with only 25K miles on it in an incredibly rusty K5 Blazer. Sure, it's no big block, but it's more than enough to put a big ol' smile on your face when you need to!

Very true and the way i look at it is there is always the option to upgrade the existing motor.
 
Same base engine in my 83 Wagon,Just warmed up abit.

Cast flat-top pistons (Federal Mogul H345); ~8.24:1 compression
all emissions controls intact

Cylinder Heads:
cast iron (993 casting); gasket-matched intake ports; 3-angle valve job

Induction:
Edelbrock Performer EGR (3701) aluminum intake; stock LG4 Quadrajet (17083204) [stock metering]

Ignition:
stock distributor; ACCEL® HEI Super Coil; MSD® Heli-Core® (3179) sparkplug wires (3179); ADS® Super Chip® (8307-A) for manual transmission F body

Exhaust:
Edelbrock T.E.S.® 6879 (Jet-Hot® coated); stock L69 catalytic converter; Torque Tech 3-inch after-cat y-pipe; dual Flowmaster® 43053 3-inch 3-chamber mufflers; dual Torque Tech 3-inch tail pipes

Camshaft:
Summit K1102; 204°/214° duration (@0.050 lift); 0.420/0.442 lift; 112° LSA
 
I didn't upgrade cam or anything in mine and I wish i would have but the method behind my madness was cost. This was the best looking complete motor for the money and i couldn't really pass it up. But also running the performer intake I need to get my headers coated as well. Also running flowmaster mufflers too ha that's crazy
 
Well slight update.

The MSD box took a crap, so stock ignition is back in.

The electric fans stayed on and melted, so back to a clutch fan.

I upgraded to a 3 core rad, so any overheating problems are solved.

Put a new edelbrock 600 on it, and re-adjusted the valves, so the car runs great.

Next step is changing the exhaust. The stock monte system is choking it. Going to try a Dynomax 2.25'' dual kit.
