upside down flag--thoughts?

a man in edison NJ is "fed up with the gov't" and is displaying his displeasure by flying the american flag upside down, in front of his house. now this is from the US flag code

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

obviously a lot of people are pissed off about this, but do you think it's wrong?
personally i think it's a good way to do it, he's signaling that the US is in distress. he is not disrespecting the flag, or his country. (if it matters he is a veteran) especially since we allow *ssh*les to burn the flag and even wear it as clothing.

The upcoming Obama administration is DEFINITELY "a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property". Not to mention, a danger to the Constitution. If you thought Bush was bad, wait until you have a President who does not like the Constitution because it places limitations on the power of Government and does not enumerate what the government must do for you. I kind of like having a government that has as little involvement in my life as possible.

it's a signal of distress yes, but i don't think it should be used for something other than emergencies, not saying we are not in an emergency or anything but being trained to respond if a flag is upside down personally it would piss me off if someone was doing it to express their thoughts and were not in danger

As for the flag being flown upside down, Meh I don't care, its not like its going to get anything done. It will probably start some stupid trend tho.

As far as anything political goes... Obama won, good riddens Bush thanks for all the ****ed up ways you've managed to screw up our country. Oh yeah, and thanks to all the pecker heads who helped him do it by voting him in. Because of all you we might just loose all American auto manufactures. Great, nice. As far as they guy who has a flag upside down in his yard, he's a veteran and as far as I'm concerned has a little more right to his opinion then most people, and I'm on his side 100 percent. We got completely f--ked by our last decision of who to make president, now if we just can, can't we just sit back and hope we go in a better way then we have in the past how many years? Is there any support for the people's (as a whole) decision? Administrator....can't we talk about cars anymore around here? I mean isn't there an I'm sorry Bush isn't the retarded *ss president anymore forum most of these people can go too?????? :x

If you don't like this thread, don't post in it. There are plenty of Forums on here that deal only with cars. This is the only one that has political discussion. In fact it was asked for by the Moderators in order to isolate the divisive political rhetoric to one place that people could opt out of if they only wanted automotive topics. Plus, if you don't like the Off topic topics, come up with something of your own that others can comment on. It doesn't have to be political either.
