Do I have that history right? Gary designed them, Luke got them, then oldsofb Hutch ended up with them and US Mags has the design and makes them now? Are these them?

If I am on the right track, has anyone bought these and if so, do you like them? And how much are they at a US Mags dealer?

Brings back memories. Don't know the specifics on the who or what but I have always liked those and wanted a set. I believe they still make them but it has been a couple years since I checked. The price is what stopped me from buying them for a Cutlass I have that never got finished. I have 2 84' Hursts so the gold wouldn't work for those.

Yes, I believe your history trail is correct, but I don't think Luke actually purchased them from Gary Willard. It's been so long that part is a bit fuzzy. I think he was helping with getting the look right and for car display. Could be wrong. I almost ended up with those, came this close, but I didn't have a need right away for them, thinking he'd start taking orders for them and I could get a set later. Initial price was pretty stiff. But you couldn't ask for a better project than Hutch's to end up with those wheels. They're gorgeous. Hutch can probably give you the complete story on that. Didn't Bonspeed wheels make a deal with Gary to make these at one time but sh*t fell through? I forget. Kinda lost track of all that.

Turns out that my daughter's ex-boyfriend (still my friend) works at a Discount Tire here and they are a US Mags authorized dealer. He told me the size I wanted (17x8) goes for $1400/each. 3 years ago they were $750. I should have gotten them then.

Oh well, does anyone have a good suggestion for a wheel that looks close to an SSIII that is NOT $1400 or more?

And it seems it depends on the size you select. I scrolled through all the sizes and an 18x9.5 is less. $1075 instead of $1400.🤣 15x8 is $950

I mean, they're nice, but not 800-1500 each nice. Just my opinion now, but, there's nice wheels at an incredibly lower price point.

It's a big leap to take, but, I almost feel like they're trying to recover the entire development and tooling costs in a single small run. If they got the 17/18" wheel down to $450 each they would sell a ton more of them

If someone has a suggestion on a less expensive wheel that looks close or reminiscent of the Olds SSIII, I would like to entertain it.

I mean when you can get the whole set for under $1400 from Y1 why would you buy the US mags?
