V6 headers mounting question

The factory header bolts won't fit there too long need to get shorter ones. Yes you would need gaskets.. I just did mine not too long ago with headman headers. Now I recommend changing the spark plugs now while there off because you won't be able to change them ones you put the headers on I made that mistake.. another thing on the factory drivers side there's a air tube that you won't be able to re connect I left it just hanging and no problems so far

I am using the stock headers.. The ones originally that come with the car

I beleive exhaust manifolds instead of headers then. I would start installing it you will know when one is to long. Use gaskets.

They came without gaskets from the factory, but everybody uses gaskets to re-install. However, the "fat" gaskets you get at the parts store will throw the crossover pipe off, by spacing the manifolds a little farther apart. I wound up using exhaust putty to seal the crossover. So I definitely second the copper gaskets, but they are more expensive and probably harder to find.

No no, he has the stock cast iron manifolds, not headers. His bolts are the ones he took out to remove the manifolds.

You got all our hopes up you were bolting a set of headers on a 3.8L.

What i do for cast iron manifolds is use a 6" sharpening stone, lapping each port of the manifold in a X pattern until the port is flat with no low spots. Stick the bolts in the holes that make them have approximately the same depth into the head and call it good.

Do the stud with nuts hold an accessory bracket? If not it doesn't really matter where they go.

I made meticulous notes of each bolt length in each position .... if I can find the piece of paper ....
