I'm wondering if it has something to to with my distributor. Why else would it make noise until 2100 rpm or so, and then all of a sudden be gone?

Alternator may be going bad or need a suppressor. High and low voltage regulator may be bad internally.

Is there a way to test that? I had my original alternator tested, and it was fine. I also had this one tested, and after I put it in it still made the noise and tested fine.
