Does anyone have any exerience with removing a vinyl roof. The one on my vehicle has seen better days and since I don't particularly like the vinyl roof look with the T-tops I'd rather remove it. I'm wondering what's the best product remove the adhesive and sugestions to mount the window molding since the pins are not there to secure the nylon clips that hold the molding.

Thanks.. 😀

Removing it altogether you're going to have (probably) rust and paint work to do, (I don't think they're painted under there...) not to mention replacing the windows/trim (I think they are different) and removing all the little tacked on studs/clips/pins for the roof and trim.

Don't know how the factory tops work, but my C&C tops the rear trim strip butts up against the edge of the vinyl which could be a trick as well.

Not sure what to use to get the adhesive to let go, maybe just a heat gun?

HTH!

the roof is started by the back window and folded over to the front. Your right about the lack of paint and I know that the weld joints under a vinyl roof are not even finished. The side windows have the same chrome trim as a none vinyl roof and all the pins for the trim around the vinyl roof have to be removed as well. I have helped to remove a vinyl roof in the past and you stirred up some memories.....maybe a new vinyl roof wouldn't look so bad after all...

I really got to do something about the vinyl roof so I called and was quoted a price between 5- 600. I think for that price I'll be removing it...

$5-600 to replace? I was quoted $1100. The $50 in gas for the drive to KW would be worth it for me.

that was a quote over the phone so it could be higher when they look at it. If you want the name of the place let me know. ....
