Thanks to you guys help this morning i got the top removed.. I believe my car was originally a hardtop.. I found the back window trim under the vinyl. Also the windows fit like hardtop windows. Plus side there is only minimum surface rust

I used acetone to remove the remnants of the glue that they used. I see you already found the seal for the windows and where the filler is for the joint between the quarter panel and roof you'll need to remove that and use a good filler that won't crack or shrink

if the windows came with that seal then you are right. You won't have to worry about that joint either since on a hardtop they used the good stuff at that joint.

I still got a lot of body work to do on the roof but i accomplished this much in a few hours..I'm happy
Man, that roof looks WAY better than mine when I pulled the vinyl! Mine was a factory hardtop as well, but the roof was filled with rust pinholes!
At least for a couple days mine had a super moon roof before the donor skin was welded on lol.....

Lol yeah man i got real lucky

When I pulled mine it was factory and almost no rust at all but it took me more than a few hours to get it off

It is a real shame a dealer ruined what otherwise like a fairly rust free car. I hate vinyl tops, I have never been a fan and have a vindetta against after seeing all the rust they cause. There is no way I am pulling mine, it would be ugly.

I got lucky on my Monte it was an aftermarket vinyl and was fully painted with no rust underneath and the rear was held on by using the factory chrome trim but I did have to mig all of the rivet holes closed and source some Monte SS quarter windows.
