That color really pops! Can’t wait to see when it’s done. I have pretty big plans for my wagon, too, but most of the changes will be under-the-skin.
Strange color, but everyone to his taste 👍I want to show the restoration of my 1978 Malibu Classic Station Wagon. It has a 305 engine and was shipped new in february 78 to Geneva Switzerland. It was never driven in the States 🙂
I bought it in 2016 for 2500 $ in Holland and it looked definitly better on photos than in real life. Cracked frame, many body damages and rust EVERYWHERE. Thru years the body was a real mess and even at some point I wanted to drive it to the junkyard.
First we welded the frame and strenghted it. The whole floor is made from new and also all body was welded and repaired. The frame and bodywork took about 4 weeks for 2 - 3 people just to have it ready for primer.
For the underbody I used the best primers and other chemicals (6 different layers) with polytheran coats at finish.
The interiour will be in the original red chevy colour but all plastic will be replaced by red leather. All doors, dash and the plastic on the trunk door. It will have all original moldings to look like it came so from beginning.
All chromes and chrome moldings will be new ( just searching for nes driver side light bezel).
The engine is in very good condition and become new heads (bigger intake valve and 0.52 lift ready), new headers, carbutour, a compcams kit with cam 260.260 0.44 lift and whole new intake. New whole exhaust, all pumps, alternator all new.
The colour is a mix of metalic and candy. Without primers there are 8 layers of different paint 🙂
I hope to have the most beautifull Malibu in Europe when I finish 😉

I found these on Original Parts Group. I think they're a bit pricey, though. https://www.opgi.com/malibu/1979/lamps-lenses/marker-lamp/Ok thx. Are there anywhere available in USA? Or just junkyards?
