My first car was an 81 Cutlass, and it started a life long addiction to these cars. It was just a v6 car but it had a goodwrench 3.8 that only had about 10k on it, silver with a blue interior bucket seats but no console with a th350 on the column, non a/c car just am fm radio with only dash speakers, f41 suspension and the rallye guage cluster with tachometer delete. Certainly a strange slathering of options to say the least. It met it's end when a rear tire blew out going around a curve on a country road and I wrapped the rear end of the car around a telephone pole.

My first car was an X-body, a 1972 Nova SS gold with a black interior, my first A-body was a 1973 Grand AM which was my third car.
I ended up having two more Nova's and Grand Am's in the next few years after these.

First car was a A body, 68 Malibu with the mighty 307 and Powerglide, a family in town had 3 68 307 Chevelles, I bought 2 of them for 500 bucks .My plan was to take the running engine from the rustier one and put it in the cleaner triple black one, dad deep sixed that idea. "Bring home more than one and you'll be living under a bridge". Pulled the backseat and there was no floor, Long Island is not kind to cars left outside. I did sell the other one for a profit ,right from the seller's house, so I got it for free, and had enough left over for some used 14 x 7 torque thrust wheels. Dad also crapped on my original plan of a 57 Chevy 210 wagon for 500 bucks that needed an engine and trans.

Not going to lie, I would have loved to see that unfold. From a safe distance...

Oh I absolutely would have loved to see it too. From what I understand, she hit a pretty hard bump in the road and when the suspension rebounded, it let go and the unibody ran right over the whole engine/front suspension assembly.

My first car is my regal. My parents came into some money, and bought it in 2014 for $1400 for me 4 months before I turned 16. They were tossing the idea around as my 16th birthday was nearing so I coul be the one to cart my siblings around. I was tasked with finding a cheap car on craigslist. I showed the car to my mom, stepdad, and dad. They joked they'd never get me anything that nice. The next day we went to pella, IA and drove it back home to Des Moines. I decided to get a job, not only for gas money, but to pay them back. Little bits at a time. Part time at $7.25/hr dont go very far. I then drove it until it exploded. Parked it (with only 84k miles and no rust and being all original, it was too nice to junk) and bought a '70 Thunderbird for $300. Drove that, rebuilt the whole front end, bent a pushrod doing burnouts and sold it for $1000. Used that $1000 to finish the first engine I ever built for the car. That exploded, so I found another engine (that happened to be a '70 SP Buick 350 [315hp/410ftlbs, 10.25:1]) a state over for $500. And here we are lol.

This pic is the day I got it, my mom in the background.

my first Grand Prix and Cutlass were both true A-body cars... 1976 Gp with factory t-tops (still kicking myself for selling that one...) and floor shift, and 1977 Cutlass Salon

Hearing of a Sentra's demise gives me a certain satisfaction. My uncle Frank had a 69 Sportsroof Torino GT. Red, white C stripe, GT wheels, black gut. Only a 351, but cool. I remember that car from the time I could remember things. Traded it in and bought an 84 Sentra when I was 15, they gave him 200 bucks for it. I was pissed. He told me, "oh you didn't want that, it was a gas hog" He bought it new in 69.
