I have never owned a true g body. My first car was a 79 Monte Carlo that I fixed up and let go to sh#t. I still have that car. View attachment 107255 I have had and have a few after that one. Another 79 Monte, 80 Monte parts car, a 80 Monte that was a basket case and the new one a 80 Turbo Monte. View attachment 107256 I love those cars!
My first was a 78 baby blue with white interior loved that car wish I would of held on to mine

Around 1974 I acquired a 1968 SS 396 4 speed. I spent almost all my money on parts for that car, on booze and on girls; the rest, I wasted.

My first car is my regal. My parents came into some money, and bought it in 2014 for $1400 for me 4 months before I turned 16. They were tossing the idea around as my 16th birthday was nearing so I coul be the one to cart my siblings around. I was tasked with finding a cheap car on craigslist. I showed the car to my mom, stepdad, and dad. They joked they'd never get me anything that nice. The next day we went to pella, IA and drove it back home to Des Moines. I decided to get a job, not only for gas money, but to pay them back. Little bits at a time. Part time at $7.25/hr dont go very far. I then drove it until it exploded. Parked it (with only 84k miles and no rust and being all original, it was too nice to junk) and bought a '70 Thunderbird for $300. Drove that, rebuilt the whole front end, bent a pushrod doing burnouts and sold it for $1000. Used that $1000 to finish the first engine I ever built for the car. That exploded, so I found another engine (that happened to be a '70 SP Buick 350 [315hp/410ftlbs, 10.25:1]) a state over for $500. And here we are lol.
I've been on the Forum long enough to see some of that unfold. I replaced the A-body wagon with a G-body wagon, usable pickups in Connecticut being impossible to find. I appreciate the paying of parents back - I did that too - partly by fighting with the drunk's insurance company for months. The new-er wagon was about 60% paid-for by the settlement.

My first car was a 1980 Cutlass 4-dr sedan. It was light blue with a dark blue bench seat interior. It was a V6 car with only PS, PB, and an automatic trans. It had absolutely no other options! It did at least have an AM radio. It was just basic transportation that was very reliable. Only had to replace the water pump and rebuild the carb once. I remember "racing" a friend of mine on Route 93 South in the Fellsway area as we headed into Boston. Had the speedo pegged at 85 but was going downhill with a tailwind... My friend had a 1976(?) Plymouth Valiant with the 318 V8 and a 3-on-the-tree. Still remember the first time I rode with him. I asked him why he just didn't put the car in drive and leave it alone. He was a gearhead and just laughed. I was 17 and didn't know much about cars at the time. That 3-on-the-tree was a curiosity for me.

My first car a 66 Cutlass. I restored it, painted it, owned it 8 years and drove it every day. Unfortunately, I only have about 8 pictures of it.
I bought an 85 Cutlass in 94. V8, console, T-tops, tilt, ac, etc, etc. Blew the motor doing donuts. Doh!

My first car was a '78 elco. 305, th350. It had a b&m megashifter and a Holley 4 barrel on an edelbrock performer intake. Otherwise it was stock. I put 100k on it, 4 engine swaps makes you good at working on them. It's sitting out back. I need to spend some serious time with it pretty soon or it will be too far gone to bother with.
