were g bodys painted in laquer from the factory?

I used aircraft stripper and it didn't take too long to strip it right down...

That looks like a mess, but to be working with bare metal it is worth it....what brand did you use? How was that on the bumper covers?
 
I used "Aircraft Paint Remover" with a little logo at the top left saying "Klean-Strip." It came in a mostly blue can with red on one side.
The stuff worked great but it had quite the smell to it. The fumes were strong. I used my painter's mask when I applied the stuff. I used rubber gloves as a precaution but that stuff will eat through them before you know you even got it on your hand.

That sounds like an idea. I've used Klean strip before. Now I gotta talk my dad into it.
