All G bodies received a front bar, rear bars were available in various suspension package options. Models like the Monte SS, 442, GN received those packages as part of or as a required option for the model type. Additionally, front bars varied with option content (including optional suspension packages), specific model (wagons received larger front bars than other base cars), and model year.
A valuable resource for info on Chevrolets and selected Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs is the GM heritage center vehicle information packets
My car which is not an SS came with the F41 option which included the larger front sway bar and the rear sway bar but I believe this package is standard on the SS.
I see, Thanks guys. So then my car is not missing anything most likely. It just never came with
a rear sway bar. The front end is stiff in the turns with very little body roll. I just upgraded the
front end links with Urethane bushings and new link hardware.
If your Monte doesn't have jounce bars or a rear sway bar , these two items will really help tighten the car up.
There is a reason they put them on Gn' s, Monte SS, and 442's. If your lucky, you might find them at the junkyard, if not I sell F41 suspension parts...timo22
