As part of the aluminum hood install and paint, I'm doing a refresh to the front end on my car which includes painting the upper and lower facia. I have a couple NOS sets of chrome strips for lower bumper cover but don't want to use them up.
I remember reading about some of the auto parts chain stores stocking the correct material on a roll for this so in my quest, I found some at my local O'Rieley's store. After measuring the stuff with a caliper though, it turns out the width is too narrow and isn't correct. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I see someone on e bay is overcharging for the stuff and they claim it is the correct size. Ideas?

Here's the ebay link

the stuff on ebay is the 3M trim and the same size you found at O'Rieleys. The roll is about $20 and they cut it to size and sell it as OEM. Also the OEM trim I took off my GP had tabs on them. I bought some from a guy that was supposed to be OEM but it was just 3M so I did some research and I could not find the OEM stuff anywhere

The oem ones have been discontinued for a quite a while now.

This is what I used, it is 3/8" wide. When I get to work in the morning I will find out where you can get it or see what my boss would charge for it.

Check out this seller's store on E-Bay, his name is Larry Patterson and I bought his trim for my car and couldn't be happier. I consider him a friend and he's very easy to deal with.Tell him I referred you from here and he will surely take care of you...http://www.ebay.com/sch/chevy7dss/m.htm ... 7675.l2562

Pep Boys sells some for around 15 bucks per 20' roll. Looks like original too.

Last known GM p/n for the trim is 22506630

You can buy a 125' roll for $100.57 from here. A tad more per foot than from Pep Boys, but basically zip and clip to the right size. Come in handy if you had a couple few G-bods to do.

Thanks Mike,

I'll check it out. The NOS stuff measures approximately .165" wide with a caliper so i don't want to go much narrower than that. Larry also has some connections on .375" wide material. If I can't nail the nominal size I will likely go slightly wider. I think I'll start selling this stuff on e bay when I get it figured out

I believe GM's wasn't rounded and had a slight point in the middle of it.
I have a few sets of NOS however they weren't always perfect from GM...
I even have NOS '83 H/O trim with the correct contour.

I just got the trim in bought it from gbodyparts.com..... but sent by Larry patterson. Look like some nice stuff
