I would still try a tall tire like a 28" or something like a 275/60 just for the fact you get more contact patch on the ground for better traction and it won't be spinning as fast at acceleration compared to a 26" and if you want more off the line power with those gears I guess you will have to add more power up front.

Awesome, 28 it is. Now for the rear wheel back space and width of the slick. I don't want to run spacers

As I stated I generally like a 4" backspace on a 8" rim but if I were you I would put your car on ramps and measure off the known sizes of your current rims and tires and see where your clearance is, check how far your rim is from the frame and pick a tire and maybe a few backup options and get their dimensions on a mounted rim(most state what rim it was measured on) and check your all your clearances (section width, height etc.) based on that to give you a more educated idea of what you need.

I'm sticking with my stock gears because it is my daily driver. I only plan on hitting the midnight drags maybe a few times a year. So as far as 26 tall looking weird, I don't mind as long as it works. I'm just unsure whether to go 26, 27, 28, or 29s. What height tire would work best with a 2.73 rear gear and a turbo 350 trans? I can tune very well but when it comes to gearing and tire sizes, I'm in a different world.
The shorter tire the better as far as shortening the rear ratio. Richmond has a gear calculator that could help. http://www.richmondgear.com/1.html

Greetings Hafrod & all;
I want drag slicks and when it comes to bias ply slicks, I always buy brand new. Thanks for the offer though
What I don't understand is why you would NOT want radials? Are not your front tires radials? Maybe I misunderstood & you have bias ply on the front? If you change your mind, take a second look at my FS post as the package I offered will fit perfectly & give you so much traction I doubt you will be able to spin them? And as far as new these only have 230 miles of use & most of those miles were driving to the Car Craft Nat's & back this past summer. With No trips to the drag strip, none. They are 27 inches tall P# 3756R & I could get them mounted & spun balanced for ya. These vaned wheels that would be included are not pictured well in any of my posts, if you would like a better picture please ask. Bob Jr.
Ps: The tires pictured at the drag strip are NOT the ones I'm offering for sale. I know you can't see the wheel very well.

I have drag raced for years and prefer slicks. I swap out at the track, then swap back and drive home. I'll be leaving the line on a 125 power shot.
