What car came with a posi rear?

If my cutlass has a 7.5in 10 bolt then couldn't I find a third gen camaro with a posi, yank the ring and pinion along with carrier and axles then swap them out with the Olds equipment? The only thing is I don't know the width of a third gen rear compared to a G-body. Should be an easy measurement. The reason I'm not interested in a 12 bolt is because my 2001 SS camaro is making close to 550 to the ground on the spray and it hasn't given any problems. I'm running 315-35/17 BFG drag radials out back with a 11" monster clutch. The car gets beat on and has never given any issues so in a automatic Cutlass with only 450 crank HP the 10 bolt shouldn't be an issue. Again my wife will be driving this car more than I will. Thanks for the help!

Apperently the posi's they used in the fourth gen f-bodies are not the same style as earlier ones. The later ones(like in your camaro) are stronger than the earlier ones. That being said, What stoopud said is right. And if you go with a newer one with 28 spline axles, the f-body axles won't help you they are too long. You would have to go aftermarket or get Grand National axles.

Oh, well I'll just save up my money and go with a 12 bolt then. I thought the axle length would be an issue between the two cars. Thanks for the help!
