and Monte SS's didnt have have 200r4's until 1985...83 and 84 had th350'sFE3X CLONE said:The TH-2004R wasn't available in a G-body before '83 so a '78 regal wouldn't have had one.
Pretty much ANY G-body from '83 and up could have had one. Although technically I think in '83, the only Olds to have a TH-2004R would have been the Hurst Olds.
Max Headroom said:Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the 700-r4 cross member was the one that worked with the TH400 trans. I thought the 200 4r was used whe you have a TH350.
Is this not the case? I am getting ready to swap my TH350 for a 200-4r and wasn't expecting to change cross members.
Look up CK Transmissions...they sell shift kits, shift improver kits, valve bodies, and other goodies to mod up a 200-4R. I got mine out of a 88 chevy caprice wagon...works fineLSCustoms said:I know the grand nationals, had the best out of them... but me and a friend just got on from a late 80s caddy and was a half off sale, picked it up for $70,
the 80s Chevrolet Caprice, Olds station wagon, Cadillac Brougham can be found at the yard, prob the easiest... i have seen quite a few laying around...
if you find one in a 80 caprice with the police package, it should have the same 200-r4 that is in the grand national, the main differences between the 200-r4s are in the valve body and Governor and to upgrade a regular one to a like GN valve body could be around $500.
