Greetings Guys; This post has been very interesting, the amount of Skilled people on this forum is amazing. No wonder we have amazing automobiles! Well I started in the foundry lab, transfered to drafting & purchased a 63 Vette. Then the war, 1966, my dad told me to sell the Vette as it wouldn't be worth anything?? He was wrong! After 3 yrs 9 mos of service went back to drafting, laid off. Went back to tech school for auto engines got my dream job in a custom engine shop. The recession of 1971 just shut the performance industry down like someone turned off a switch! Went to Parker Pen & made the balls, I was a ball lapper, + or - .0000020", perfect job for someone that's anal. Then Parker went under I started over again in drafting. Until those jobs all disappeared. Now I look back & most of the places I worked are long gone, rust belt ya know. It's this hobby that has kept me alive. And the fact that you can meet new people at every car event. I should mention that Drag Week was sir-real. Take care Ole' Bob.
Ps: Next week I'll try to post a few pictures of Drag Week at Byron over on my Malibu thread.
