What do you guys think about this?

Probably about a month ago, I order a cord for my phone, $4.64 on ebay. I used pay pal, but paid as a guest because I hadn't set up the PP account with an actual bank account yet. I did register an email and password with PP with the intentions I would set up a bank account to link the PP to. So I finally receive my product from the seller, it's incorrect. Go through ebay to get it sorted out, and the seller gives me a full refund that will be credited to my PP account. I check my online bank statement first, maybe it's in there since I used my debit card. It's not there, so I try to log into pay pal. I tried maybe 3 passwords to log in Because I couldn't remember, and it says "you account has been permanently locked with a balance of $0.00 USD." I called them today as I haven't had time to do so, and I try to reset my password via phone. I'm thinking it locked me out Because I had too many unsuccessful password attempts. I get through to a guy with a really thick indian accent, he needs the name and email registered w/ the account. But he is telling me the email I gave him is assciated with a different name and country. I made sure he typed my email correctly. He transferred me to the security dept, but I didn't have the time to wait since I was on my break at work. I guess the next step would be to call them again. This just seems weird to me.

Welcome to the annoying world of using ebay. I have had some difficulties with foreign buyers/ paypal / bad feedbacks b/c of the lighting in an item picture etc. lately. My advice would be to make an entirely different account from a neutral location (so the ip's are different') and this time follow the instruction of paypal to tether your account to a credit card or bank account within the 30 days time period so this doesn't happen again and you can start over a lot faster than trying to convince people with poor english that you are 'innocent' when their job is kind of just to sideline and differ you. Since you don't have an account with several feedbacks on it yet or something, you've got nothing to lose by just starting over. And since you never tethered the 1st account to a bank account # you should be able to use the account you already have b/c it is not 'banned' like your account so you should be straight w/ new account no problem. Just make sure to create a new email adress or it will know it's you and just ban you again.

I thought about that. But what's concerning me is that from what the guy on the phone is saying, someone out there is using my name and email on a PP account. I'm also kind of afraid to link my personal bank account to a new PP account if this is gonna happen.

Got it figured out last night. Apparently I had registered everything with PayPal awhile ago. Only problem is I registered the email [email protected] and it is supposed to be [email protected]. And the guy on the phone did infact confirm that the [email protected] address is blocked, and used in China. So I closed the account I had before, and am planning to open a new seperate gmail, and paypal to use.
