ok so i been emailing this guy back and forth about my quad, and told me he has a bunch of hot rod parts, i told him i was looking for a 8.5 g-body rear end.. he said he has one out of a GN 3:42 posi, has no brakes, said if he was going to sell it for cash, he's asking 450 for it, i said ok, and he's throwing in adjustable upper rear control arms,.. i was like alright,.. im asking 1300 for the quad, its a 99 Yamaha warrior 350 6 speed with reverse, has new stator, new solenoid, new cid, fmf pipe and k&n filter, .. i said i will do a trade, if he wants to throw in cash too, he said he didnt have the cash, but has more parts, so i asked what he had, he said he will do an even swap with me rear end, adjustable control arms, fairly new holly 750, and brand new in the box, monte ss rear springs and shocks... what you guys think of that deal

I say go for it those parts around me would cost more then your asking price of quad. Provided it truly is a GN 8.5 most people say it's a 8.5 to you get there then it turns out to be a 7.5.

ya i hear ya, he sent pics i was able to identify it, and it is an 8.5 rear i just wanna pull the cover and make sure the gears r good

Looks to me like you should be getting about $400 cash on top of that pile of parts...

8.5 posi that probably needs bearings, seals, brakes: $450
Used Holley 750: $125
Used adjustable upper control arms (make sure they are for the 8.5" G body rear and not an A body): $60
Monte Carlo springs & shocks: $150-250. (depending on brand and shock type (dual tube OE replacement, gas mono-tube, ???)
Total: $785-$885 (approximately)

so ya think i should get more out of him? i asked him to throw in cash before and said he didnt have the cash, and trying to find an 8.5 rear is nearly im possible for me to find, so im still on the edge, about it, cuz i dont want to get screwed on the deal, cuz the quad runs great,

Yes, I thought he was coming up short by a few hundred...
But you know what those parts are worth in your area...it's totally up to you.

I feel you should get a couple bills thrown your way and it would make it fair. However I am surprised that nobody has told you to jump on it yet, usually when an 8.5 gets talked about on this forum people nut in their pants if they can get one for under a grand. If the parts are good then it is probably a fair deal. I would just want a couple hundred in case the carb ended up being junk or the rearend needs a full rebuild. Good luck.
