1985 Buick Regal limited, power locks, manual windows. Was 231/Th200c. Open diff. Was wondering how much it weighed in stock form. With the 350 in it, I'd say it'd be about 200lbs more give or take 20ish lbs. I've seen anywhere from 3100 to 3700lbs, and I really don't know what's right. Any help is appreciated as always.
Just found this online for your car . I know it's not your cars weight but GN's weight is 3285 and Olds Cutlass with 305 is 3450, so your 3700 seems alittle high.
Steel wheels can easily add 60 lbs over AL. AL bumper supports are 13lbs less than the steel ones, a 32mm swaybar is 25lbs, a hollow 36mm F-body bar is 13lbs... its pretty easy to add/subtract 100lbs depending on how the car is equipped.
My car is 3530 by itself (PontiacGP is right - just take some old junk to the metal yard and theyll weigh you before and after - thats what I did). Not sure where El Caminos sit as far as being the heaviest or lightest G bodies. Hope that helps a little.
305, 200r4, steel everything, power everything, buckets, fiberglass bed cover
Maybe the V-8's do, but the Turbo's are lighter than this. An '86 T-types weigh 85-100lbs less than '87 GN's with equal options and both are less than 3500 unless absolutely fully loaded with concert sound, T-tops, etc.
My '86 T-type hardtop with rollup windows was 3605 at the track with + 10lb each 275/60 DR's with me: 185lb and a 1/2 tank of gas - 35lbs. It still had Front/Rear sway bars (a Monster ATR bar in back) and T-type wheels. Full interior and even had a spare tire.
3605 - 175 - 35 = 3,395. So a similarly optioned '87 GN would weigh right at 3500lbs, if not a little under.
The n/a v6, would be the lightest as turbo, piping, and intercooler add weight. Also Regals lacked many of the reinforcing bracing and some body bushings the other g bodies got. Also the 8.5 rear axle would weigh more than the 7.5.
The turbo, intercooler and piping is basically a wash with the N/A's Cast Iron intake and exhaust manifolds. The turbo stuff is not heavy. Add steel wheels and the NA likely isn't lighter if it wasn't for swaybars and the 8.5 rear of a T-type.
