what doors are interchangable (identical lines) to the 88 Monte SS? i need a new passenger door. thanks guys.

81-88 Monte Carlo.

how do you know that? i looked everywhere to get that answer...

It's a common knowledge thing. That set of years use the same body style, and only the Monte had those lines.

Actually, while the G-body Monte Carlo and Cutlass Supreme (I think) goes up to 1988, the Regal only to 1987.

but you should remember that the 81-85 montes had different mirrors and are in different locations than the 86-88 montes

Yes, technically, but also, with the 87 GN, Buick had so many orders for them since it was technically the last year, they kept building them right through 88, although they stayed taged as a 87 in the vin.

Olds did the same thing sort of, the 88 Cutlass was Olds just using up the extra parts they had laying around. That is why there was the FWD 88 Cutlass and the RWD 88 Cutlass. Olds just called the RWD Cutlass the "Cutlass Classic" to differentiate between the two, but the "classic" had a 88 vin unlike the Buick GN's.

So both Buick and Olds build the RWD cars in 88, they just did it in two different approaches. One to use up parts that were already made (olds) and Buick to fulfill orders that they had (and use up parts).

sorry but there was no rear drive regal or grand national in 88' all 88' regals were fwd. but your correct on the cutlass part. the only reason there were any 88 rear drive g-bodies were due to GM having so many left over cars at their plants awaiting shipment to dealers.

The final G-body Monte Carlo - a silver SS coupe - was produced on December 12, 1987. Total SS production for '88 was 16,204. yet it was labeled as an 88' model

I didnt say that they made an 88 Regal or GN. I said that they had so many orders for the GN, that they continued making the 87 into the 88 year. Not long into it although, and they were still vin'ed as a 87.
