What inspires you (And your builds/projects)?

Time to chime in. I've had enough beers for it.
My father has always inspired me. I learn more and more about what he's had and what he's done with them as the years go on. Mechanic since I was young, and studied to be an electrician in high school. To be able to read a wiring diagram, I still need some work on what the images represent, but I owe it to him and my freshmen high school teacher. (Electronics are cool and I wish I could hack a computer on these cars and rewrite the codes)
Sticking with family, my love of the Cutlass comes from my brother's '87 Supreme. Only thing he did to it was tape off some lines and paint the rest primer grey, but that thing was fun to drive around in with the factory 6cyl and plush seats. My family has owned a few Olds along the way. FWD Cialas, couple wagons (GM but not all Olds) and I've had a Century or two. Love the way they drive and they're comfortable, and still talking early mid 90's, v6 cars.
A lot of my current inspiration, I have to say, comes from you guys. The things you do, (notching the frames, swapping this for that to get this gear ratio or duel piston calipers) I never would have thought of. You've expanded my build on my Nutless from just getting it running good and keeping a basically stock Cutlass with a 350 in it rather then a 4.3 v8 to something that will go like snot, stop like it should and handle like a dream. I may not be aiming for a 9 second car, will probably never get to drag race my Olds but just to see what you guys have done makes me wonder. Can I build this '82 Olds into something beyond my wildest dreams? Should I pull the 440 out of my 300 complete with transmission and stuff it in? Hm... maybe not that far yet. But who knows. I'm not dead yet, still plenty of time to figure it out. And I can't swap the 440 yet. That poor ugly '68 300 needs to get on the road for at least a year or two before I pull the drivetrain out of it. There's car shows to visit and it needs to be seen. It may be a 4 door, but... I can see suicide doors on it, half pillar delete, splurge on the remote door pops, bag it, duel exhaust exiting through the bumper corners... Oh sorry, Gbody forum.

I don't know where my love of cars came from. I was infatuated with Tyco electric race tracks and putting together model cars when I was little. My family didn't have a ton of money so I learned to work on things and had to get my first car roadworthy.

When I started driving I couldn't afford anything nice and used g-bodies were one of the cars you could easily buy under a grand, even a few hundred bucks with trashed V6's. They were the cars I really learned to wrench on and swap several engines into.

I came very close to walking away from it all within the last year. I sold 2 of my 455's and almost sold my GP because I didn't want to work on it anymore. I don't have any gear head friends so I came back to this site after about a year hiatus. I see what you guys are doing and it motivated me to get back to it and finish this car. Not only that but, I'm not sure what the hell else I would do!
