What is the name and purpose of this part

One one of my quadrajets on the secondary baffle there is a part added to it on one side only. I have never seen this part on a baffle before but Jets sells used baffles with this part on the baffle. I can't find it in my Doug Roes or Cliff's book. If any of you know what it's called and what it does I would appreciate it....🙂

this carb is an 80's version but it was rebuilt with a divorce choke base. Quadrajet parts sells this baffle but give any info on it..
