I did a search of manual transmissions and read four pages of links but I was unable to determine exactly what is the name or model or nomenclature for the four speed transmission that came in the G-body platforms.

Being new to this platform, I know the old skool of Muncies and Saginaws and Richmond and even the new Tremecs, but what is the name or model number of the transmission in our G-bodys?

I like to research things like the gear ratios and if they came with different gearing like the old Muncie M20, 21, and 22. Also then once i know I can find the dimensions of the transmission for possible swaps.

I'm so spoiled with overdrive I feel when I do find a project, changing to a 5 speed will be one of the first things to do. Thanks to those that post a helpful message.

Pretty sure the only 4-speed available was the Saginaw.

Searched a bit, since I thought I had this info handy, but couldn't locate it and lo and behold its actually on here...

I was fortunate enough to find a 3 ring Saginaw with the 3.50 first gear to install in my 1966 Pontiac Tempest with the OHC6 and that 3.50 madea nice change to the torque with the stock 3.08 rear gear. Now knowing that it is the Saginaws in the G Bodys, I can now shop around.

GP 403 has the info I have. What he said. 👍 😎 I've got six of them I'll be selling in the Spring and two stick shift columns with keys.
