timing

i don't know if this helps..on my car i have a 750 mighty demon with mech secondaries my dist is a msd pro billet with a msd 6a box i don't have any vaccum hooked up i set my timing at 36 total all in by 3000 i don't have any issues with detonation an it idles great at about 800rpm with my 3000 stall it drives good 😀 i hope this helps you good luck

so that article is stating i should hook vacuum advance to manifold vacuum and not to ported. im really confused can some one elaborate on how to properly set this thing up.

there's always the redneck way, set the timing by ear to where it idles best. then drive the car (gently at first) retarding the timing a little at a time until it stops knocking. it's the only way i can properly time my car.
look up the instructions for the carb from the manufacturer. hook up the vacuum line the way they recommend.
you also need to figure out what springs to use in the distributor mechanical advance.
