So this just started yesterday while i was testing malibu battery... Its weird cuase when i lube up the belt the noise goes away, i lossen the belt and still same noise.. Maybe the bearing in the water pump? Neve heard this sound before, i just change out my valve covers and all looked healthy inside... Watchthe vid so weird..

Had the same problem too and I replaced the belt. Apparently the belt I bought had a flaw and couldn't run/fit even into the beltgroves... When you lube the belt/groves they run smoother. As soon as the lube is gone or boiled away through friction heat, well the noise comes back 😀

Koo i will change the belt.. The belt is new, I have a used one lying around.. If the sound goes away i go get a new belt..thanks

I'd try tightening the belt first and get it as tight as you can, it's not like a v belt

Ok sure, i can do that, but how tight is tight, i think i have it tight enough where i cant even move the belt.. Thats why i lossened it thinking it was to tight... But i can try just a little more..

Dont want to tear up the belt like i did with my gilmer setup lol..

So we dont suspect its the bearing in the water pump? Pump new too...

This month's HOT ROD said baby powder will quiet a belt. I haven't tried it.

the first time I had an issue with s serpentine belt was when I had to change my alternator. I brought back 2 alternators cause they each had a bearing squeal. When I showed up with the second one my friend who worked at the store told me that I had to be doing something wrong and came out to see it. He took a pry bar and tightened it till it was almost stretching and the noise that sounded yours went away.
