Depends on intended use....if it's just a driver, the TH250 will be fine. There isn't really any difference between it and a TH350 that would be the cause of poor performance. 250Cs were really designed for fuel economy improvement where high torque output wasn't an issue.
Would I use it if I were going to be looking for improved performance? No. BUT, I have driven TH250s for the last 4 years, and never had any issues with them behind the stock 305s they were mated to. Heck, I got 45K out of a TH200C rebuild that was a V6 trans behind an '88 truck 350...so obviously I don't lean on them very hard (although the failure was spectacular). A TH250 may not have bragging rights, but will get the job done if used as intended...of course, I'm not a big proponent of removing working parts just to have the popular choice.
