A rare option in 78'-79' was the Pontiac LeMans "Sprint". It consisted of a 301, 4 barrel, 4 speed stick. Not sure if the wagons could have had it but why not? That would be very rare.

Mark,
That's another one I've never heard about. However, I do recall the Sprint name used in the '60's on certain Tempests. Infact a friend of mine's brother had a Tempest Sprint with the OHC 6, 4-barrell carb and 4-spd.
It was a pretty cool car. Not really fast, but different.

Thanks!

Jack, those Sprint OHC 6 motors are very valuable these days. They were faster in the Firebirds. I've only seen one 79' Lemans Srint and other than a cheesy decal on the front fender you would never know anything. Come to think of it, my wagon is a 301 4 barrel 4 speed. Hmmm. I wonder if I could find that decal?

Doug, yes, it's a late Saginaw with the 3:50 first gear. With 2:78 rear gears I get good takeoff and great highway manners, plus 20mpg.

You've got one nice ride there! IIRC the saginaw I've got has a 2.84 first gear (not stock to the trucklet) and 2.73 rear gears.

Mark,
Your wagon is probably alot better than one of Lemans Sprint jobs. What made them so special besides the cheesy decal?
Did they even have a sport interior?

A woman that I know locally has a '66 Lemans with the OHC 6. It was her mother's car that was bought new. She had the car restored and it looks great. It's not the Sprint model. Just a normal looking 2-dr HT Lemans with steel wheels and dog dish caps. Light beige in color. Nice car.
