I don't understand why everybody is so bent out of shape about the dent on the roof... :?

From a bodyman's perspective, that's an easy fix, and it sure doesn't involve any metal replacement.
Should only take a few hours to repair.

The hardest part about a job like that is getting the right paint color and blending it in...

You've got some minor work to get done...If the car is truly solid, then keep it. My car is rotten and im saving it and bring in her back. I love my car. As for your engine/drivetrain choices...go for it. Im doin a 383 as well but no 700R4. As for the paint...I would try and do something shiny and mild colored like that grey w/ all the chrome powder coated black and some sick rims.
