Whats a fair price on a T Type?

I made a telephone deal on a new T-Type, drove over 100 miles to get the car only to find out it was an Olds powered model. Needless to say, I drove my Fiero GT back home! 😳

Holy smokes I wasn't expecting the T Type to be in that range.

Lately, turbo powered T types that are clean can fetch almost as much as a GN. At least on Ebay that is. If this person doesn't know what they have, you may be able to get a deal.....otherwise if it's clean, they may be asking top dollar.

Dang just got hold of the guy and they are asking $9900 for it so way more than I could swing at the moment. By the sounds of it I may just want to look for a regular regal and build it however I want instead getting a Turbo car 🙁

Intercooled '86-'87 Turbo Buicks are the most sought-after of them all... and in good condition they can bring anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on mileage, condition, originality/modifications, and options...

Sounds like a fair price.

And of course, > To OP. Condition sells it all. My Carborated '85 T-type was $650, it was worth $100 in the condition I bought it but I really wanted it.

I'd pay up to 10k for the car if it's in good condition.

What kind of regal are you looking for? The older one's for the body style. Because it's really worth the money and if you decide to buy a different one and just build it peice by peice due to finacees might take awhile and it seems like you won't be satisfied.

They are worth all the money. You should keep looking.

They even made a T-Type riviera (FWD) GM did a lot of goofy stuff in the late 70's and 80's which is a big reason they went bankrupt years later.

were all the 86/87 turbo cars intercooled?..going to look at one i found in a yard under a tarp..i think its an 86, wont get a good look till the w/e..buddy never registered it, bought and lost interest i guess..i will have to do a registry search, basically im looking at getting this car for under a grand as a parts car..worst case is i use the body to fix my 84 limited but it sounds like it might be better to get the t registered and get it running..body is straight and looks clean..dont know the interior..if its an intercooled car it sounds like a no brainer

Yes, the 86-87 turbo cars are intercooled, 84-87 are fuel injected and have the distributorless coil pack ignition, prior to those carbs and distributors all around.

Check out under the deck lid for the spid label. Match it up by vin with the car vin on the dr side dash. The spid is a list of three character codes that tell what the car came from the factory with. Look for LC2=turbo engine on 86-86 mw9-2004r trans, gu6=3.42 gears, G87=8.5 ten bolt, g80=limited slip we2 if you think it is a GN, or Y56 for the Tpkg

thanx for the info..it was a fuel injected non intercooled car, the interior was really mouldy..the vin was too hard to read as it was rusty..lol, i passed on the car due to the amount of mould in it..nice body..too nice to chop apart, too bad he let it get so wet.. kinda weird too that it had a colum shift and bench..i figured a t type would be a consul..buddy wanted 900 and maybee a bit too much for a parts car especially considering the cost to re and re the qp onto my 84, it did have the t hood and the turbo buick felt underhood insulation?..he figured that was worth 900..i will wait for a regal to show up at the wrecker..

Some sought after parts if they are still with the car. The BQ code 2004r trans has the good vb/governor combo, it might have an 8.5 in Ten bolt rear end, The engine short block has a rolled fillet turbo crank and two dot rods. And you might be able to dry out the interior and get it cleaned up to make a nice cruiser.
