Well today I went and pulled apart my rearend cause its had better days lol. After 12 years of abuse I can't complain. But I need new gear, and was looking into a posi instead of a mini spool that was in there. ( I think it was a hole shot away from going BOOM!) I had a 373 in there but it chewed up but I did like the power out the hole and still being able to jump on the free way I have a spare 410 laying on the self and was wondering how much I would loses off the top end. Keep in mind I have a t-top car so I'm kinda scard to put it in and twist something. What do you guys think?

It depends on what else is in the car. Do you have an overdrive trans? If so does it lock up? How tall are your tires? Even the stall on you torque converter can make a difference.

No overdrive trans just the good old th350. 275/60R15 tire, I'm not sure what converter is in there in doesnt seem big at all, at least not enogh to notice. with the 373 it spins the tire well into second out the hole.

if you're asking about gears for the street with 3 speed transmission I'd say 2.92 or 3.08

Thanks Driven that gonna help alot

x2. If you don't have the ability to do an overdrive, 3.08 is a great gear. Most of the acceleration of a quarter mile gear without high engine wear/rpm terrible mileage.

here's my set up, 400sbc 0.30 over, flat top pistons, 292 501 cam, dart iron eagles heads 64cc (205,160), edelbrock performer rpm intake, 750 holly. wouldn't going from 373 to a 308 kill me out the hole.
