I'm about to try and sell my transmission. It's a 700r4 from a 85-85 T/A with less than 120000 miles. Was rebuilt (by a good transmission guy) with a B&M kit, upgraded sprag, vette servos, etc. Good for up to 450 HP. Comes with a B&M 2400 stall, non lock up. I has never been bolted up since rebuild, so basically new.

It was meant to go in my Malibu. But since the mechanic still hadn't had it in after 10 months (took him the first 4 to put the 350 in) I's getting towed back here in a couple days. I have no place to do it myself, and don't really want to mess with driveshaft and making it work with my column shifter. And no one else in town seems to want to do it either. So I'm just gonna sell it and buy a TH350 and get that installed instead.

So what should I ask for it?

*bump*

I have someone that might be interested, but I don't know what a good price would be.

Not understanding what you mean maybe i am having a brain fart. is it rebuilt or rebuilt with less the 120000 miles well either way.
Rebuilt with 0 miles 400-500
Rebuilt with 120000 its a core 100-200

I would really like to have that trans for my 74 Firebird.... The problem is I'm in Pennsylvania so shipping might make it cost prohibitive. My F-bird makes about 450 hp and I want an overdrive so it would be perfect, if you PM me whatever offer you got maybe I can match it or make a better offer.

Is there any kind of guarantee or anything with it? I doubt it, but just thought I'd ask.

That might be a stupid buy though, I really really need a wire harness and some floor pans.

It is rebuilt, with 0 mikes since rebuild.

Cores up here go from $300-400.
Had B&M Transkit (about $350 to buy up here) installed
Upgraded sprag
Corvette servos
B&M shift kit
B&M non locking stall (cost $300+)

This transmission was rebuilt (buy a guy who has a reputation of building strong trannys) , then placed in the trunk of my car, has not even been bolted up yet. I believe there is also a new TV cable included.

There, I think that should clear up any questions lol.

Yeah, I think it would be quite expensive to ship this across the border 🙂

So I made a deal on a TH350 and converter today, so this 700r4 is for sure up for sale. Still don't know what to ask for it lol.

If you weren't so far away i'ld take it off you hands. I was talking with a guy the other day who was telling me about electric and non electric lockup 700r4. He was telling me the 90's caprices had them among other cars and that the non computer controlled ones were the best. since you could choose lockup or not with a switch. Is there any truth to that. Not trying to hijack your thread Phoenyx.

Bump

I'm not to sure about that. I know very little about 4 speed (or O/D) transmissions lol. But this one is set up for non lock-up.

There is a kit you buy to install in the valve body. It mounts to the side of the trans then so you can run vacuum to it or manually with a switch put it into lock up. I've got a 10" comvertor in mine and i manually lock it up on the highway. It would not be that big of a deal to get it into your car. G-force crossmember and then get the drive shaft shortened. The column shift will mount right up. I have a column shift in mine and even got it to work with long tube hooker headers.
