I hate these threads but I'm curious and want to ask anyways. My 1976 Buick 350 is halfway through its rebuild and I can't help but wonder what kind of power it's going to make. If anyone cares to guesstimate, post below. Here's the specs-

1976 Buick 350
.030 Over
T/A Performance 10:1 Pistons
Comp Cams 268/469 Flat Tappet Cam
750 cfm Rochester Quadrajet
Stock Heads, Stock Intake
Hooker 1103 HKR Headers
EGR Delete

Conservatively probably only 290-300 hp. Should be pretty torquey though. Maybe 375-400 ft*lbs.

the smog heads are holding it back, I would guess around 325 to 350. I wouldn't delete the EGR though, that cools the cylinder so you can advance the timing

I know with Buicks the power is all in the heads, but a port job is just soo expensive. $2000 seems to be the going price of a quality port job for these heads, and I've already extended my budget far beyond what I originally intended just as it is. Maybe someday...

Still, those numbers are about what I was aiming for so I'd be more than happy with them. 325-350 horse and 375-400 torque are very respectable IMO for a mostly street (rarely strip) car. I think I'm gonna be pretty satisfied with my outcome. :)

Try port matching at home with a grinder and some carbide bits, clean cast marks and open up the bowls. Thats at least 25 HP right there. And it won't cost you much.

This. Stay away from the valves and don't try to "hog out" anything and you really can't screw ti up.

Horsepower TV did a Buick build a while back and they got 303 hp and 350 torque at the flywheel but they had the heads ported and polished. TA intake 750 qjet tweaked and rebuilt and doug's headers for dyno purposes. And 10:1. Should be at LEAST 300flywheel hp. I stuck with stock 8.5:1 because of that shitty corn gas in Iowa. I have the same setup as you otherwise. I should probably be at max 250hp. Great for a cruiser for now. Eventually the engine will be back out for flattops alum. heads and intake, and a 200r4 and a ~2200 stall. :D

Awesome, I'll get some good carbide bits and give the port matching a shot. Worst case scenario, I destroy a head and have to buy another one for ~$40 off craigslist. I'm pretty excited about this engine now after hearing these numbers! MrSony, I have a local source for 110 Octane Ethanol-free VP race gas, which is what I'm gonna run in this, otherwise I'd probably have stuck to 8.5:1.

Ethanol increases the octane which allows a higher compression ratio...

The Buick 350's have allot of Stroke compare to the other GM 350's.
Id say your Torque is 380 -390 range and HP around 320.
That's more then what a stock GN was making.
