I am new to the confusing world of G/A body gm. I am trying to find a frame that will work with my 1978 malibu 2 dr. I have access to obtaining a 85 monte carlo SS what cars have the same A/G body frame as mine? The final 12 inches of the passenger side of my frame is rusted out at the bottom. I would like to do a full frame off resto on this car but need to find a frame that will work.

Sorry all, My car is as follows:

1978 Malibu 2 dr not a landau
It had a 3.8 v6 which i am switching to a 383
The interior is gutted
The exterior is in full primer and pretty solid
I am redoing the floor pans as they are both gone
I am redoing all of the front/rear suspension as well as the steering components
One day it will be sweet

All of teh G-Body cars from 78-88 will work for you, excluding the Elky though. Good luck with your project and welcome here to GBF..........POst some pics too 8)

Wishful thinking friend..............You will only fing the 8.5 rear in a hurst olds/442, Grand National, and T-Type cars....YOu should be able to score one of these rears though for about a grand or so. Or go with a 12 bolt from a 66-72 A Body car!!

I heard from another guy though that a monte frame is a little longer at the front and rear and that he had to trim it down so that the bumpers didn't stick out too far. Do you guys think he may be crazy? I'm just afraid to buy this car if the frame won't work, there is also a junkyard down the road that has 4 cutlass supremes, 4 regals and a GP.

He is full of sh*t....Go measure it 8)
