there it is

people put ls1s in just about every rear wheel or all wheel drive foreign car lol mostly because of the torq a v8 has over a inline 4or v6

Three "uncool" cars I have a fettish to find and restore before I die are a '72-76 Ford Torino wagon, a Saab Sonnett, and maybe a Bricklin. Also liked the '78 and '79 Olds Custom Cruiser wagons, still run arcoss them on E-Bay every now and then- good old fashioned American land yacht 😀

One of my favorites was an Australian company that has a kit to put a Subaru WRX engine in a VW bus. I think I also saw one with a Porsche 911 turbo drivetrain swapped in it. By far though, my all time favorite is the Honda B16/B18 VTEC Austin Mini. Very light car ( 1500 lbs) with around 160-200hp.

The LS1 R34 Skyline looks like a beautiful job. I wish I had the kind of money to make something that pretty and fast.

Id like to sup up my old 87 lebaron station wagon. It is a turbo, so im sure it has some possibilites. I gotta get it back from my sister though.

Id also like to buy a 4 door cutlass or something old and fairly crappy, and lighten it up and just gut the interior down to metal. Rip out the motor and transmission and put in a 454 or 455 with a 700r4. Lower it down and put a roll cage in it. Something I really wouldnt care if i wrecked and take to the tracks.

Yeah, there's a lot you can do with a Chrysler 2.2/2.5 turbo. The best mod is probably the DOHC head from the Shelby Lancer or Spirit R/T.

i got a beater of a 95 hyundia elantra clear coat is pealing off it. i put a 4g63t in it with a 16g turbo i painted the front mount a semi flat black to hide it.its even got the hyundia hubcaps on it.its a great sleeper traction is a problem but i got 1800 bucks total in it.2000lbs and close to 300hp should see the looks on most of the kids with riced out imports faces when i fly by them.sad part is what they spent on rims and tires i did total on the car.theres nothing wrong with being odd or different.i use to have a 88 mazda 323gtx with a bpd in it a 1.8 dohc turbo 210hp another fun sleeper most dont know gtx on a mazda means awd turbo.best one i ever had was a 74 ugly green 4 door nova with a 427 in it.

I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD BUILD THAT!!!!! I have been thinking of a 4G63t Elantra for years now, it just makes too much sense not to do it. The 4G61 it comes with is is basically the same except for deck height. For anyone who doesn't speak import, the early Hyundai's used Mitsubishi drivetrains built by Hyundai under license-much like what Proton does with old mitsu car designs in Malaysia. The 4G61 is a 1.8 liter version of the DOHC engine in a Mitsubishi Eclipse ( or other DSM). The Eclipse uses the 4G63 which is a 2 liter engine , and came in both turbo and non turbo variants. There were turbo variants of the 4G61, but the cars are extremely rare ( Mitsu Mirage Turbo/Dodge Colt turbo and the early Hyundai Scoupe Turbo). They usually get swapped to the bigger 2 liter. It's one of the most boost friendly engines out there and it's not uncommon to see over 20lbs of boost on stock internals. These cars are stupid fast with little money, and it can take as little as $1,000 in mods to reach the 12's. A friend of mine has one and we dropped a second off the 1/8 mile time ( 1.57 off 1/4) for $80 by using a bleed valve boost controller on an otherwise stock car.

As for the 323 GTX, cool little car. I've never seen one, but it's on my list of oddballs I want.

bolted straight in had to do a little wiring thats it. the exhaust was fun to rig up so was the intercooler had to hide it keep the sleeper look.i paid 500 bucks for the car with a blown engine.4g63t was 700 with the harness and ecu turbo i got used 50 bucks rebuilt it for about 40. intercooler came off a junkyard volvo. google a 88 or 89 mazda 323gtx its little kinda ugly but they came b6t 1.6 dohc turbo awd the normal 323 was fwd only things different from the outside are the rims and small gtx badges.there even was a 323gt a turbo fwd.the 80s turbo fwd dodges can be fast seen a caravan with one run a damn 12.my friends call me odd ball i have built some odd cars.my best one was a 91 protege that was awd they only offered them awd 90 and 91.mine had a bpd stroked to a 2.0 tomei cams head work made a deeper oil pan t70 turbo rx7 rear diff got that car to run a 9.8@142mh in the 1/4 same run 6.3@113mph 1/8 60 foot time of 1.43 little thing would fly.

What Volvo was it, 740? If it's what I am thinking of, the damn thing has a HUGE intercooler stock. IIRC, Saab 9000's and early 9-3's used the same one. I measured the DSM to see if it would fit, but it turned out it was too tall to fit where I wanted to put it. As for the 323 GTX, the funny thing is just how many cars came with some sort of variant of the Mazda B6 engine series. The Australian-made Capri XR-2 had it (turbo optional), the Escort GT, Miata, and even Kia used it in the Sephia and Sportage. I remember reading about a swap of a B6T into a Ford Festiva a while back, which makes sense since the Festiva and Assfire were both Korean market Kia's rebadged as Fords to compete with the Suzuki made Geo Metro/ Chevy Sprint. Another cool little turbo car would be the Subaru Justy. AWD turbo 3 cyl-and the engine is similar looking to the Sprint engine which makes me wonder if they are the same. And since we are on the oddball subject, I wonder how hard it would be to swap the AWD trans and SR20DET from either a JDM Bluebird or Pulsar GTiR into a B12 (87-90) AWD Sentra wagon? If not the SR, could you put a CA18DET into it instead using Pulsar mounts? I think most of these AWD Japanese cars use the R160 diff from Fuji Heavy Industries, so matching the front and rear gearing should be pretty easy. The R160 has been sold in a variet of cars since 1968, after all, and is still used today in the WRX and maybe even the EVO.
