I changed the upper A arms with ones 1/2" longer so I needed an alignment. It's easy to do the race car since we zero out the right side and adjust the toe by the left but is harder to centre the toe on a street car so I took it in to a recommended shop. While it was up they showed me the camber setting which were 2.3º and 2.4º negative which was pretty good since I did that by eye. I wanted 1.5º negative. So they tell me that if I want the camber adjusted they wanted one hour per side to make the adjustment. I pointed out the sign that had the price for a wheel alignment and he told me a wheel alignment was just adjusting the toe. I told them thya didn't understand what a wheel alignment is In a not so politely manner and I told the guy he didn't know what he was doing if he thought it takes an hour per side to adjust the camber. I told him if he wanted I'll do the adjustment in 10 min per side so he can learn how to do it. He declined of course so I took the car out and found a speed shop that will do it. They usually work on vettes and have a nice collection of them but he said he'll lower his standards to do my Pontiac..

some of these shops really rip you off with the new cars that don't have a caster or camber alignment. $80 to adjust the toe when they offer a wheel alignment is a scam if you ask me

That's lame. At our shop an alignment means all factory adjustments are done. Caster and camber are factory adjustments on a G-body so they get adjusted. Doesn't take much time to do it if you know what you are doing... and if the bolts aren't totally rusted...

My tire/front end shop treats me real good. After i put on my new front end goodies from SC&C earlier this summer I took the Monte to them to have the front end lined up.They booked me in for 2 hours and only charged me the regular rate,a bit under $ 75.00 tax in,and I was there for the full 2 hours.

they didn't even pop the hood to look at the bolts which have a nice coating of anti seize and the tie rod adjusters I have are made of stainless and were made by a local shop who sponsors race cars and they look like this..
