If the bearing is the correct one it will need to be pressed in and not simply just lightly tap in.
You never use old bearings parts with new ones. The worn pattern will cause the new bearings to wear fast and could cause them to break through the case and cause the bearing to fail.
if your talking about the front the race is on the rotor and is the race is pitted or scored then it'd be easier to change the rotor....the other race is the spindle itself so that is reused unless damaged. The rear bearings the outer race comes with bearing encased and the inside race is on the axle shaft itself so unless the axle is damaged that race is reused.
