Alright guys, I'm stuck and need some opinions, preferably from experience. I have a hot lil 327 going into my 85 Cutlass Salon. It is estimated between 375-400 at the crank. My question is which ignition box/setup should I use, Petronix, MSD, Mallory, Accel, or a Summit brand box is also an option. I know that they aren't really needed for the street, but I insist cuz I want to have a rev limiter. Any insight and opinions would be greatly appreciated. If there are any questions about my setup, just post the questions on here and I'll answer them the best that I can. Thanks again.

I have an e-curve distributor that has an adjustable rev limiter and msd makes rev limiters if you don't want to run a box

Thank you kindly, that's the kind of info I'm on the prowl for. Could you point me in the right direction? Is there any way to know what curve I need or is it a trial and error type of thing?
I really dont want to to run a box because I've heard that they aren't reliable enough for cars that get driven alot(street driven).

with the e-curve you set up the curve you want. I bought a program for a whopping 3.99 that lets me put the numbers I want and it tell me what numbers to set the dials at. There is another dial to set the rev limiter

Did you go with any specific brand? Was it pretty easy to setup? I'm not afraid to work on it, it's just that I have never recurved a distributor. How about a link (if you don't mind) to what you used and also to the program. I'm liking the simplicity of the way this setup is sounding.

It's an MSD product. It's digital so the curve is set up by 2 dials on the circuit board in the distributor. Here is a link to the program I used...

I think this is what I'm wanting, which coil did you use/suggest? I was reading and it said max advance is 34*, that is in addition to base timing, correct? If not, I don't think it will work for me cuz I have vortec heads and I think its common knowledge that vortecs like a lil bit more timing than normal. Other than that I believe this is what I need if I'm understanding this right. One more question, did it come with a harness for the power or did you just do a splice, and how would I hook up a tach or have I not read far enough for the tach hook up yet? Thanks again, you have been a great help thus far.

It comes with a harness and I used the MSD ss coil. As for the timing I have vortec heads and I get enough advance as far as I'm concerned. If you want more you can add a few with the base timing and calculate that in.
