I think I see the problem... I'm not an Olds guy (but I do like olds). I didn't realize there was a big weight difference between those engines. Pontiac engines all seem to be in the same weight range from 326 to 455, and you can use the same accesories on any size engine. Sure, you won't win any mileage contests, but I guess how big an issue that is depends on how often the car is driven and if it is a toy or your primary mode of transportation.

Oh, and I like oversteer. :twisted:

For Olds, the weight difference is not that much. I believe it is something like 50-60 lbs., but not positive.
 
I decided to go small block olds because I had lifetime warranty on my alternator, water pump, and power steering pump... I didnt want those new parts to go to waste, so I used the 307 brackets... I also heard that the 455 had oiling problems at high rpm... My local machine shop isnt exactly oldsmobile expert that can fix that, so I just went with an olds 350...
 
I read somewhere the metal has a higher concentration of nickel in the olds blocks and heads vs the Chev blocks therefore they are slightly heavier.
