Hey everyone I'm debating on what to do with my 06 Silverado. As some of yall might know I've been trying to find a clutch for it. Well I've found a few options but second gear took a blow last week on a 75 shot of nitrous... since then I've sold the kit... it lasted about two weeks

Right now is a NV3500 and it's basically fair game for whatever transmission I decide to go with, manual/auto... anything that'll bolt up. Preferably electronic. All prices are within a grand or two of eachother depending on what parts I can scavenge, so I'm not really losing out there. I've got 3.90 gears and the v6.

if your going manual then you got to go T-56

ya I already have the pedal, hydraulics, and crossmember. T56 is the first on my personal list. But I also invested a good chunk of change in the rear recently so I'd hate to redo the 3.90 to something steeper.

The truck will see some boost in the not to distant future, around 6-8 psi. I was looking at the T5 for their lower first gear, but 1300 rpms on the highway with the 6 speed might net me a couple mpg's. Maybe 25 mpg? Right now it gets 22-23 on the highway.

Random question - will a supercharger with low boost net me any better hwy mileage if I keep my foot out of it? Not that I care about gas mileage :?

What are your intentions for the truck? Towing? Strip?

I'm not too confident that a T-5 will handle that power, even the NV3500 for that matter...

I personally would go 4L80E.

The plan is to make a street truck out of it. For now the fastest I can see it running is low 14's so it doesn't need to be a real heavy duty one. At this point I'm looking for a cheap swap. To tell you the truth the t56 will cost the same as to rebuild the NV3500 and buy a new clutch. I like the T5 gear ratios (the one where first is around 3.2x??) but they're supposed to be less durable than the NV3500... which isn't the best idea seeing how my gears are grinding and I can't use second, etc. And that's with less than 300 tq in front of it.

I'm really leaning toward the t56. The truck is already equipped for a manual, and I *think* it would be around the same price as to swap in a 4L80E just because I'd have to have the pcm tuned for the auto, or buy a new computer. I'm hurtin right now without a truck, but thank god for the honda flip down rear seat. BTW those old hondas are champs, mines got 200,000 miles with no signs of letting up.

4l80e will do everything you need and its pretty damn tough

autos are fun, and with a stick a 3.90 isnt really much of a rear end.
as per the honda comment, yesssss 270,000 still runs like new, and I haul everything in my little hatchback haha. I did start working on a jeep recently tho.

4l80 is my vote. only because its too new to powerglide haha

I'm still weighing all my options and trying to find the best prices, cuz I have a month or two before I can get a load of cash to swap it out.

3.90's with a manual can be a great thing or a terrible thing. It all depends on the transmission. For example, my stock v6 with NV3500 and 4.10 gears would have a greater final drive power/ratio (in torque) in every gear except 2nd than the trailblazer SS (also count the fact that this full size truck only weighs 4200 lbs) The same setup with a t56 would have as much torque as my honda 😳 . So you could see why the new venture 5spd does have it's advantages.

I'm hoping the civic will go for another 300,000 miles. I'm going to have to get a cheap gasket rebuild kit for it next year because it's not looking great right now. Got a few slow leaks, but nothing a quart of oil can't fix.

It's a Civic which means it will run forever if one of it's two Achilles' Heels does not get you: The head gasket or the timing belt. Or Rust, depending on where it is driven. Otherwise, there is no stopping a Honda! (BTW, I have you beat in miles with my Nissan! )
