It's a Civic which means it will run forever if one of it's two Achilles' Heels does not get you: The head gasket or the timing belt. Or Rust, depending on where it is driven. Otherwise, there is no stopping a Honda! (BTW, I have you beat in miles with my Nissan! )

Ya it's doin fine really, I just add an extra quart of oil every few weeks. I do need to replace the timing belt though. It's just annoying to have a slow oil leak on the driveway. The plan is to pull the engine I think in 2 summers and either rebuild the whole thing or just a gasket rebuild kit.

As for the transmission thing, I need someone who knows a thing or two about T5's. I'm planning on ordering one (after looking at all my options). It's the cheapest of the manual transmission swaps that can also be made to handle some power. My question is, I know there were steeper gear ratios used in the s10 T5 (which are verrry close to my current ratios in the NV3500) so I'd like to use that gearing. But then the s10 T5 was bolted to a 4 cyl, it won't swap over to my 4.3 and isn't strong enough. Anyone know if a camaro T5 bolts up to a 4.3 (gen I sbc) bolt pattern? Also can the gears be swapped from one T5 to another? ...I'm thinking about ordering a camaro trans. that bolts to my engine but use the truck gearing.

if you want an auto go for a 4l80e, but if you want a manual, do the T-56, I would choose the T-56 anyway, just because I like manual and its a good trans at that.

I talked myself out of the T-56. It's too pricey and not the right gearing for my truck. I'd have to get around a 5.10 or lower rear gear (5.56 maybe?) to have the same power as the ratios now. 5.56 gear with stock 8.6 10 bolt = something broken
