Who hates messing with long tube headers?

My Flowtecs were a pain in the dick to get in and they are VERY rusty for not even being 2 years old. Definatley low quality but if your on a budget and I mean a tight budget they are the way to go. The next time my engine comes out im either gonna paint them and hang them in my garage or pitch them and go with some quality Hookers or Hedmans.

I've had my Flowtechs for over a decade now. Originally they were ceramic coated, not that good looking but I think that is what has helped them to stay in one piece. For the 230(iirc) i spent it was well worth it. They fit fine, although if you compare them to newer flowtechs you can see the design has changed.
In a performance application I will not run anything short of longtubes, besides I don't have any real issues with them and it's easier to run your exhaust off from.
That said, I have ran the Advance Adapters headers on my S10 with the same engine that's in the Malibu now. They fit great and were very easy to work around, but they had to have hindered performance. I wouldnt want to try to run them on anything making more than 350-400 just to make sure your not losing a lot of power. Also they make look cheap but they held up quite well. I can't count the times I had them glowing red due to issues I was having, and never had one crack.

I have a set of Stahl 2 1/4" primary w/ 4" collectors. They were fun just mocking them up on the stand I can't wait to put them in the car. But I didn't wanna compromise any power so I'll have to live with it.
Here's a couple pic's of my spaghetti pipes.

I just made 4-2-1 headers to my neighbours Cuda with 6.1L Hemi, and I will use same style with my Pontiac...some day...
Car runned 11.1 @ 1/4 mile, no other modifications than headers and airfilter. Rev limiter was 5800rpm then, now its 6800rpm.

I love my Hooker 3203s. I'm using a stock full-sized starter and either the headers or the starter could come out and go in without touching the other. Who knew that headers with a big block in a G-body could be so easy?

how about ground clearance? I hate when headers are hanging almost on the ground...

Tons of clearance. This picture doesn't show it real clearly, but they never come close to touching. I'll eventually be replacing the springs. As it is, I once in a while scrape the mufflers over large speed bumps, that's it.

I've done two sets of LT headers. One for my 292 I6 in my '81 C-20 and the other in my (now defunct) '73 F-350. The 292 install was good; I just had to figure out how to route the piping through the crossmember. With the F-350 on the other hand, I had to raise the engine and trans to clear the motor mounts. Not too hard. The Chevy runs a lot better with the headers. Unfortunately they're Pacesetters, and they developed a leak at the flange. The F-350 didn't survive long enough for me to get it out on the road. F'n neighbors made us get rid of that truck. When I had it running through cheap turbo muffs, it would rattle our chinacloset; 200 ft. away from where the truck was parked. That 390FE will inhabit my '53 F-250 one day. Both trucks were lifted though, so ground clearance wasn't an issue.

I am currently considering building a set of long tubes for my mom's car. The shorties that are on there are a far cry from the stock manifolds, but I think the sbf would run a lot better with LT's.
