I hear ya Kornball I prefer FWD in the snow as well if my only choice is a car. With RITTER'S regals I believe it was the lack of any power that made them perform well  It acted almost like it had a slipper clutch kind of like on an rc car
Yeah...I think a low stall TQ or starting in 2nd gear with a manual trans is the trick to driving a RWD in the snow...

I dunno... I could put my regal with a completely stock 307, stock converter, and highway gears in second gear... Not give it any gas and just at idle the wheels would spin.

The tires were pretty worn, but they passed inspection they weren't that bad.

I've owned one wrong wheel drive, I doubt I'll ever own another(it was a '91 Regal Gran Sport).

well i have to admit that i was a domestic ricer aka pork and beaner. i had a 94 saturn sl1 that i totally riced out. i did it as an inside joke to myself. the car had 85 hp and was ment for mpg not mph. but after 3 years of owning it i finnally relised to make it "fast" id have to do a complete engine swap. well there was no way i could afford that so i did what any other poor pvt in the army does, i "pimped it out" $20 at a time. 30 buck "performance" muffler, strobe lights, 1200w amp and 12" sub after market speakers, awooga horn seat covers, stickers. i knew that car was a pos but i didnt care, it got better mpg than anyother car in my unit and i was the one to call in the snow storm to get picked up to goto werk. i thought it was funny when my lil pos fwd car with 14x5inch rims was passing hummers in 6" of snow. i do admit i knew how to drive that lil pos because i had it for 8 years, throwing it around corners, "drifting" around parking lot lights (e brake champ) and doing reverse doughnuts. not because i thought my car had performance but because i knew how to drive my car better than most people knew how to walk. i know i beat the sh*t out of it but to me it was like using a punching bag for stress relief. even tho i did tecknickly drive a "domestic ricer" i hated the real deal ricers. and yeah id race them to the speed limit, and ya win some and loose most but thats the way the cookie crumbles. i do agree that some ricers are kids that are in over there head just like i was with my first car but still wanted to go fast onna nonexistant budget, so they did what they thought was gonna be kewl. most of the time its stupid sh*t because they just dont know how performance works or there just trying to pecock. well thats akll, i can think of right now. in hind sight being a car douche was a bad idea, having to drive a loud eyesore of a car to annoy everyone around me. not too nice but still funnie.

As far as snow driving. My Malibu has had no problems. But it does have really good winter tires (Nokian) and anti-hop bars (that I think help the tires dig in). Had no weight in the trunk and no issues plowing through over 2' of snow. But this winter will be a lot different with 400HP and a stall, I'm kinda nervous lol.

most likely thats what it is being mistaken for , that or an old corolla hatchback. I wouldn't mind having the supra , being RWD at least. I am not fond of FWD in snow and rain.
WHAT?
FWD is much better in the snow and rain...traction is much better because the weight of the engine is over the drive wheels, every honda Ive owned would go in the snow just fine....just try driving my 93 T-Bird anywhere when its snowing....totally useless!
WHAT?
FWD is useless in the snow, if you lose traction you can't steer worth sh*t. Plus if RWD loses traction, you let off the gas and you get it right back. The trick is around 100lbs in the trunk and patience. I drive my cutty year round, and it's the best to drive in the winter next to my old shitstang.

Trust me, I live in Canada.

i would say in your area that FWD would be useless, but for as much snow as we get here in NJ we just have to deal with what we have. I agree that the snow is very tricky with FWD, not that im promoting unsafe driving at all, but ive had my fare share of "practicing" in the snow in an empty lot at my old college. The only thing you can do to help a little bit with FWD in the snow is playing with the e-brake. I found that i had much more control, turning wise, when i used the e-brakes to get the car to turn. My cutty on the other hand was a hand full driving in the snow, but to me it was predictable.

AAnother great trick, especially on fwd, is using the clutch as a brake. It's much less likely to lock up the wheels and easier to finese how much it applies. This is especially useful on ice.

FWD cars do killer reverse donuts!!
